Our Gardening Experience

Ever since we moved in with my parents, I've been wanting to teach my kids how to garden. I finally made enough noise about it that my Mom came up with this great idea. she bought a box for each of my kids and they got to plant things in them and take care of them all summer. I think we fell a little short on the taking care of them part, fortunately my Mom helped out a lot with that. But they sure had a fun time getting their boxes in and planting their plants with their Daddy. Each of them got one food plant and the rest were flowers. All of their plants did really well! It has been fun showing them that we can plant our own food, and we have been enjoying finding new recepies to use up all of our zuchinni. Who knew one zuchinni plant would produce so many huge zuchinni's. My favorite part of this whole experience has been my "Diva." She would check on her pepper every single day to see how it was doing. When we finally told her that she could pick it, she carried it around with her for a couple of hours. She was very distressed when she found out I wanted to cook it in our chili but she finanlly decided it would be ok. This has been a very fun experience and I can't wait to do it next year, and be more of a part of the fun in the beginning when I didn't just have a baby. here are some pictures out of order.

  1. a new post...YAY and it's way cute too. You almost got more out of your little boxes then I got out of my whole garden...how sad and pathetic is that?? We just bombed it bad this year. Oh well, we'll try again next time.

  2. Fun! I really need to do some gardening of my own. Those boxes are a good idea.

  3. Gardening is fun when kids are old enough to help but not old enough to complain.
