Update on "Smiley"

So a vote was cast and the results are... wait for it... because I had to for too long... just kidding... Roseola.

She got the rash saturday afternoon. At least we know what it is now! And now it's over! The rash is pretty much gone, and she is feeling much better.

"Smiley"

So we spent the night in the emergency room last night! "Smiley" had a tempature of 103.6, we took her tempature again about fifteen minutes later and it had gone up to 104. By the time I had gotten to the hospital it had gone up to 104.6. She was breathing really fast and her heart rate was at 190, which they told me was really fast. Otherwise she had no other symptoms. They said that her heart rate should be between 120- 150, and that we couldn't be sent home until that went down. So we spent the next eight hours trying to break her fever. They gave her motrin which brought it down a little and then gave her tylonol that brought it down to 101. An hour later it was back up to 103, and her heart rate was still at 180. We covered her in cold wet rags, and then when it was possible they gave her tylonol and motrin at the same time. This finally broke her fever and we were sent home at 4:30 am.

Today she is cranky and a little wobbley, but she hasn't had any fever, and still no other symptoms. They ruled out bladder infection, any stomach problems, pnemonia, and menengitis. They had no idea what was wrong with her. They assumed that over the next couple of days she would start getting some kind of viral thing, which has yet to happen.

So.... any ideas? Has anyone heard of anything like this happening before?
